Regensburger Strasse, a neighborhood in Bremen Germany's Findorff district, is located on Regensburger Strasse. It's a central access route that runs from Munchener Strasse east to west. It is a central access road that extends from Munchener Strasse to Nurnberger Strasse in an east-west direction.
It has a long and rich history. The neighborhood was named for the Upper Palatinate city of Regensburg, a Bavarian town. Since 2006, the preserved old town of Regensburg, together with Stadtamhof has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Regensburg was an imperial free city, and a center where Reichstag meetings were held in the East Frankish Empire. From 1663 to 1806, the Perpetual Diet took place in Regensburg in the Imperial Hall of Old Town Hall.
Findorff was home to 2,500 people in 1875. Findorff's district experienced a more intense development after 1900. The Regensburger Strasse school was originally built as a primary until 1912, when it became Findorff Secondary School in 2009/10. During World War II, many houses were destroyed. The post-war architecture dominates the first part of this street.
Regensburger Strasse connects to Bremen's public transportation network. It was connected to the Bremen tram system in 1913 with line 9, which ran from Hemmstrasse to Findorfftunnel- Hauptbahnhof and St. Jurgen Strasse, passing Regensburger Strasse. In 1927, the line from Burgerpark to Hemmstrasse was extended via Eickedorfer Strasse. The two lines were linked to a ring, which included lines 5 and 6, (sometimes 6A). Findorff's last trams were lines 5 and 6 in 1967. Hemmstrasse is the route of Bremen's bus lines 28 (Uberseestadt-Neu Vahr Nord) and 26 (Uberseestadt-Huckelriede), as well as 25 (Weidedamm Sud - Osterholz), 27 (Weidedamm North - Huckelriede), at Hemmstrasse.
The majority of buildings along Regensburger Strasse have two or three stories, and many are from the postwar period. Some buildings and facilities are notable along the street. For example, there is a five-story building with a residential and business component from the 1970s, located at the corner of Munchener Strasse. There is also a four-story building that houses both residential and business functions at numbers 21-25, Munchener Strasse148 and two-story buildings at 29-59.
