The neighborhood of Kruidenbuurt can be found in Eindhoven in the Dutch province Noord-Brabant. The 1930s garden-style neighborhood is currently being renovated. The neighborhood is near the Leenderweg and Korianderstraat. It also belongs to the Putten District.
Many of the streets in this neighborhood are named after plants. The southern part of Kruidenbuurt has several street names that refer to flower types. This is why the area is often confused with Bloemenplein, or the "flower district".
In 1998, the housing corporation Trudo, as part of its renovation plan for the neighborhood, presented a proposal to replace and demolish 732 houses, representing more than half the number of homes in the area. In 2004, demolition of old worker's houses began. Construction of new homes is divided into four phases. The last phase should be completed in 2012. Construction was halted in 2008 due to the financial crisis. In 2017, construction on 147 rental houses and 86 plots for private development resumed. The (new) Kruidenbuurt's last houses will be finished in May 2022.
