The Musee de la Liberation de Paris (Museum du General Leclerc-Museum Jean Moulin) was inaugurated on 25 August 2019 to commemorate the 75th anniversary since the liberation Paris. Sylvie Zaidman is its director, a chief curator of heritage (PhD history under Michelle Perrot in 1989, Graduate of the National Heritage Institute and Germaine Tillion Promotion - 2011).
The museum is located in the 1787 pavilions designed by Claude-Nicolas Ledoux on the Place Denfert-Rochereau, south of the Place Denfert-Rochereau. The west pavilion has a passive defence shelter, where Colonel Rol-Tanguy established his command post in August 1944 at the start of the uprising. The museum moved to its present location in 2015. Construction and renovations were done on the back of the building (facing the square) to fit its exhibits.
