Amsterdam: National Tulip Day: 19 January

One of the best things to do in Amsterdam in the Winter is to attend National Tulip Day in Dam Square. On National Tulip Day in Amsterdam, Dam square hosts hundreds of thousands of tulips, free for the picking. The event brightens the whole city centre of Amsterdam as you notice people walking around with armfuls of colourful tulips long before you get to Dam Square. Rotterdam: International Film Festival Rotterdam: 23 January - 3 February

One of our top picks of things to do in Rotterdam in the Winter is to attend the International Film Festival Rotterdam. The festival sees the contemporary, cosmopolitan city of Rotterdam transform into a ‘film city’, with events happening all over Rotterdam attended by approximately 300,000 film enthusiasts. s-Hertogenbosch: Carnaval 2018: 3 - 5 Maart

Annually, thousands of visitors flock to the South of the Netherlands for the famous Carnaval festivities. Though it is a widely celebrated festival, doing Carnaval 2019 in s-Hertogenbosch is highly recommended. The city features an endless parade of people, colours, music, and brazen and bizarre Carnaval costumes. The small, cozy city truly captures the spirit of Carnaval during these few days, and is one of the essential Winter things to do in s-Hertogenbosch.

The Hague: NN CP Run Den Haag: 10 March
