The neighborhood of Kalevoet can be found in the southwest part of the Belgian municipality of Ukkel, in the Brussels Capital Region. It is bordered by the Flemish towns of Drogenbos Beersel and Linkebeek. Calenvort is mentioned in the neighborhood's rich history, dating back to early 13th-century times. The name "Kalevoet", which is derived by "kaal", meaning a bare area and "voort", referring to the ford over the Linkebeek, was given in 18th century. After the 18th century, the "r" has been dropped from the name.

Kalevoet used to be a rural region dependent on the ducal realm of Ukkel. Lands such as Nekkersgat, Groelst and Stalle were also attached. In Kalevoet a wooden chapel was dedicated to Our Lady of Consolation in the 14th century. This was replaced in 1425 by a stone chapel that had an octagonal floor plan. In the first half 17th century, the construction of the Alsembergsesteenweg (a southern road from Sint-Gillis) transformed Kalevoet, raising the ford and building a bridge across the Linkebeek. The Kalevoet Chapel was destroyed by the French Revolution, and completely demolished in1828.

The Ukkel-Kalevoet Station was built in 1873 north of Kalevoet, along the Alsembergsesteenweg. It is also on the new railway line between Charleroi and Brussels. In Beersel, the Van Haelen Brewery was founded and reached its peak during the 20th century. It was demolished at the end of the 1960s. In 1930, a second railway line was constructed east of the former Kalevoet. A station, called Moensberg Station, was only built in 1973.

Today, "Kalevoet", a more general term, is used to describe a larger area in the southwest part of the Ukkel municipality. The old Kalevoet used to be located near the intersection of Alsembergsesteenweg & Linkebeek, close to the current Van Haelen Tram stop named after the former Brewery.
