Parking near Lievendaal

Lievendaal, in Eindhoven's Strijp district in the Dutch province Noord-Brabant, is a neighbourhood. The neighborhood is part of the Halve Maan district. The "Lievendaal farm" that once stood there is the reason for the name of this neighborhood. The first plans for the development of the area were made in 1930 when the Beatrix Canal was built and a part of Noord-Brabantlaan constructed. In 1941, the first houses were constructed as a small neighborhood for German officers who worked at Fliegerhorst Eindhoven Airport (Welschap Airport). After the war the Ministry of Defense took over the homes and used them to house personnel of the air force working on the restoration of the Welschap Airport. In 1947 the homes were converted to civilian use. They were then assigned to citizens in 1950. In 1948, 248 houses were finished and in 1949 an additional 232 were. In 1951, an additional complex of 212 houses was built. Philips built all of these homes.

The Maria Reginakerk and 216 additional apartments were constructed on Welschapsedijk in 1960. The Philips van Lenneppark opened in 1966 north of the neighborhood. This area was originally designated an industrial zone. In 1966, the Evoluon, which is located east of the neighborhood, was also opened.
