Le Pont des Demoiselles, also referred to in Occitan as Pont de las Domaiselas, is a residential neighborhood situated in Toulouse's picturesque city center. While its exact origins remain unclear, some speculate it comes from Pont de Montaudran being nicknamed Pont des Putes and then "Pont des Demoiselles." Alternatively, perhaps its name refers to "War of the Demoiselles," since much of the neighborhood's population hails from Ariege region in particular.
Montaudran lies to its southeast, Terrasse eastwards, Cote Pavee north, Busca west and Saouzelong southwestward. Avenue Saint-Exupery, beginning from Mendes-France bridge at its western boundary and ending at Avenue Jean-Rieux and Route de Revel is the primary thoroughfare in this neighborhood. Avenue Saint-Exupery serves as the perimeter for this neighborhood from its intersection with Chemin de la Butte to its intersection with Chemin de la Butte; Avenue Jean-Rieux marks it from its intersection with Route de Revel all the way to Rue Jean-Martin-Charcot where it leaves it; finally, Canal du Midi delimits it all the way through until its crossing at Georges Labit Museum - delimiting both western ring roads of Toulouse as well as crossing at Georges Labit Museum itself - to complete its perimeter and delineates this neighborhood from western ring road of Toulouse western ring road to railway bridge on Toulouse Bayonne line - delimiting both avenues Jean-Rieux defines both neighborhoods entirely; but not as effectively - where Avenue Jean-Rieux remains as boundary while Canal du Midi runs parallel.
Le Pont des Demoiselles is home to numerous notable establishments, such as Archives departementales de la Haute-Garonne, Parc Antoine de Saint-Exupery and Paroisse Saint-Joseph. Additionally, this area benefits from excellent public transit access with Ormeau and TAE stations nearby as well as L7 and L8 bus lines serving public transport - plus direct access via Exit 21 from A620 Highway Western Ring Road!
