Mini-Europe is a tourist attraction located in Brussels, Belgium that allows visitors to stroll through a 2.5 hectare area to view miniature versions of iconic buildings and monuments from European countries. Mini-Europe is an educational park dedicated to teaching about Europe; each year over 300,000 visitors attend. Half of them come from outside Belgium alone! If you plan on visiting Mini-Europe soon and require parking solutions nearby Mobypark provides safe, cost-effective options close by.
Mini-Europe was created as part of the Bruparck complex in Brussels in 1989 by the Meeus family - who also created Walibi amusement parks - as an addition to Walibi Belgium in Waver. However, it soon outgrew this concept. Due to space limitations within Walibi Belgium in Waver, Mini-Europe eventually found a separate home and was established on the former Meli Heizel amusement park site near West Flemish Meli Park which had closed down in 1986.

Mini-Europe is home to miniature replicas of some of Europe's most renowned structures as well as moving trains and boats - most are pulled by strings while radio-controlled ones allow visitors to operate them themselves for a fee. Each year new models are added; most recently this was Rome's Trevi Fountain unveiled for Mini-Europe's 30th anniversary celebrations in April 2019 (photo above).
Mini-Europe's future was in doubt due to the NEO project at Heizel, an expansive retail, residential, and office development that threatened both Mini-Europe and Oceade water park nearby. Oceade was initially set to close in 2013, with an extension given until 2016; it eventually closed its doors in October 2018 while Mini-Europe could have been integrated into the NEO project; however, no agreement could be made between Mini-Europe Park and Brussels regarding rent payment. Numerous cities were named as potential takeover candidates for Mini-Europe, such as Kortrijk and Eigenbrakel. By 2019, it had become public knowledge that Mini-Europe had received an approved demolition permit; however, an agreement was struck early 2021 to extend Mini-Europe's operation until NEO arrived and ensure its inclusion within this project.
