Dailly is located in the southern part of Schaarbeek in Brussels. The busy intersection of Leuvensesteenweg with Brabanconnelaan and Daillylaan is located in this neighborhood. In 1861, the neighborhood was created when the first National Shooting Range for the army and civilian guard was built. The Belgian state acquired the land in 1860, from a small hamlet called Weyenveld.
In 1870 the square was named after Eugene Dailly who served as mayor of Schaarbeek between 1864 and 1873. In 1886, after the National Shooting Range moved to Kattepoel, a barracks for the infantry was built and named Prince Boudewijn on the now vacant land. The eclectic building with Flemish Neo-renaissance influences is used for commercial, office and residential purposes. The square was completely redeveloped in 1996. Trees were planted and a new fountain installed.
