Schiebroek is an area in Rotterdam's Hillegersberg-Schiebroek District that was once its own municipality within its namesake polder in the northern region of Rotterdam. It lies between Hillegersberg and Overschie.

Schiebroek can trace its history back to the Middle Ages when the Kleiweg served as a land connection between Rotte and Schie rivers, drawing early settlers. By 1300, most of the surrounding land had been farmed and cultivation started around 1300. Schiebroek became part of Baljuwschap Schieland in 1590 as an "ambacht", though originally peatland; as its surface continued to sink and become wetter over time, large scale turf extraction occurred throughout 17th and 18th century.

Schiebroek was transformed into a polder in 1773 through the construction of dikes, canals, and ditches. There were only 211 residents at that time with no church or inn; excess water was removed through an electric pumping station located on Molenlei (now Wilgenlei), before eventually being demolished and replaced with an electric pumping station on Ringdijk which had to be entirely rebuilt by 1987.

Schiebroek became an independent municipality in 1817. For much of its existence as an urban area, most residents concentrated in an area between Kleiweg and Hoge Limiet. By 1865, there were 335 inhabitants living here. When Hofpleinspoorlijn railway line opened through this then-empty polder in 1908, Schiebroek had two stops: Station Schiebroek along Kleiweg and Adrianalaan stop (later moved to Wilgenplas outdoor swimming pool and named Wilgenplas stop). This line between Rotterdam and Scheveningen was first electrified railway in The Netherlands since before 1840!

After 1920, "Tuinstad Schiebroek" (Garden City Schiebroek) saw an explosive population explosion. Entire streets of luxurious houses were constructed near Adrianalaan and around Molenvijver; these locations quickly became highly desired among Rotterdam residents.
