The Molenlaankwartier is a neighborhood in Rotterdam's Hillegersberg-Schiebroek district located within Boterdorpse polder. Renowned for its green spaces and singels canals, this neighborhood was constructed between 1920-1921 on either side of Molenlaan in Hillegersberg. Noted for its green spaces and singels canals, its development included Van Beethovensingel shopping center; some of Rotterdam's highest income postcodes can be found here; its expansion plan was approved through public meeting of Hillegersberg council either 1920/1921.
Molenlaankwartier is located to the north of Bergschenhoek's Lage Bergse Bos, and currently an extension of A13 is being constructed on its southern edge. A motion passed in 2002 under R. Lermer's initiative for underground road, however due to financial considerations this plan was altered into an alternative that blends into its surrounding environment instead.
Molenlaankwartier is home to several educational institutions, such as six primary schools and TooropMavo, Sint-Laurenscollege, Japan School of Rotterdam, American International School of Rotterdam as well as religious institutions like Sint-Liduinakerk (Catholic church) and Fonteinkerk (Protestant church), both located here. There is also a Jewish cultural center on Bachlaan in this neighborhood.
