Parking near Hordijkerveld

Hordijkerveld, a Rotterdam neighborhood located in IJsselmonde, is part of the city. It was constructed between 1958 and 1962 as a separate city neighborhood. It was previously a rural region with linear development only along the dikes. In World War II the area was inundated.

Hordijkerveld lies east of IJsselmonde and south of Kreekhuizenlaan. The southern border is the border of the municipality of Rotterdam and runs slightly south of the Zevenbergsedijkje/Wester Hordijk. Reyeroord is located to the east. Between the two neighbourhoods is a 100-meter wide green strip.

Tram line 2 runs through this area along the Reyerdijk and bus line 20 terminates at the IJsbaan. Reyerdijk is the main traffic artery, followed by the IJsselmonde Randweg and Kreekhuizenlaan. These roads offer quick access to Barendrecht, near the A15 exit, and the Adriaan Volkerlaan (near the Van Brienenoord Bridge), near the A16 exit.

The Project Hordijkerveld involves a neighborhood revitalization project that is being implemented by Vestia Rotterdam Zuid (the manager of the majority of rental homes in this neighborhood) and the Submunicipality IJsselmonde, in consultation with Hordijkerveld Resident Association. In 2007, there are plans to replace 288 apartments in seven buildings located on the Molgerdijk and Prinsendijk as well as Vudijk and Appeldijk with new, more expensive homes. Vestia's plan to demolish 288 homes spread over seven apartment buildings on the Molgerdijk, Prinsendijk, Vudijk, and Appeldijk in 2007 has been met with fierce opposition.
