Strijkviertel, a neighborhood in Utrecht, is located in the Netherlands. The area runs approximately 1.5 km north to south and is a link between the Rijksstraatweg (the main road) and the Heicopperkade. Strijkviertel begins near the Gooisebrug pedestrian bridge over the Leidse Rijn and ends just before the viaduct underneath the A12 where Strijkviertel runs. Strijkviertelplas is a sandpit that was built to the east of Strijkviertel for the construction the highways A12 and A2. This pit is now a popular recreational area, with cyclists and hikers as well as swimmers and sunbathers.

It is unknown where the name Strijkviertel came from. Existing explanations are only speculative. At the end of 17th century a path with the name Strijk Veertel existed. This silk route was also evident along with the 1 km of path west, which is now dredged. The Meentweg was paved in De Meern after the gravel road became the Meentweg. Former Strijk Veertel underwent a similar transformation, starting as a poplar-lined path, then becoming a gravel road and finally an asphalt road. The Strijkviertel, and Meentweg, run along the same longitudinal direction as the now almost gone elongated plots of medieval polder land. A parallel road also ran to the east, about 1 km away, and that was the Taatsendijk, which is now almost gone.

The Strijkviertel, which was a road in the late 1950s with some factories, offices and distribution centers, has evolved into the Business Area Oudenrijn, with an area of 74 hectares. The proximity of the Oudenrijn junction is the main reason for this growth.
