Nassaubuurt, a neighborhood of The Hague, is known for its large homes, lush greenery, and wealthy residents. The majority of the area was constructed between 1925 and 1935. However, the Nassaubuurt which borders the Raamweg was built in 1890. It is located northeast of the city centre and has many schools. The neighborhood is bordered on the north by the Malieveld, Wassenaar and the Haagse Bos. It also borders the Raamweg and Hubertuspark. Haagse Bos is the name of the neighborhood, which in Dutch means "northern forest". It is also bordered by Haagse bos, Willemspark, Archipelbuurt, Westbroekpark, and Duttendel. The neighborhood is divided into seven different neighborhoods: Uilennest (Van Hoytemastraat e.o. ), Nassaubuurt (Arendsdorp e.o. ), Waalsdorp (Duinzigt), and Clingendael.
Around the Van Hoytemastraat is the main shopping area of the neighborhood. Benoordenhage is a shopping center with 60 specialty stores. It includes the Van Hoytemastraat and Breitnerlaan. In 1975, a small shopping centre was opened in Duinzigt. Since 1985, many shops have closed in other areas of the neighbourhood, including the Van Hogenhoucklaan, the Van Diepenburchstraat and the Van Hogenhoucklaan.
Wilshout is one of the notable buildings in this part of the city. The first residential hotel in the Netherlands was built by Frans Lourijsen and Jan Wils in 1926 at Jozef Israelsplein 9, 34, opposite the 1922 rosarium. Jan Wils, a well-known and successful architect of the time, was also responsible for the design of the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam. The "woonhotel", inspired by modern American life, offered fully-furnished luxury apartments with amenities like beds, tables and chairs.
