Rivierenbuurt-Noord and Rivierenbuurt-Zuid (collectively known as Rivierenbuurt) are neighborhoods within Stationsbuurt district in The Hague's Centrum borough.
At the edge of city center, Rivierenbuurt lies along a roadway connecting Bernhardviaduct with Schedeldoekshaven on one side, Spui with Haagvliet on the other, as well as the main roadway connecting The Hague Centraal with The Hague Hollands Spoor on both ends. As part of its location near Rijswijkseplein, this neighborhood features key roads such as Pletterijkade - one of the main access points into the city center - Lekstraat and Schenkviaduct (leading directly to Rijswijkseplein). This neighborhood is also home to numerous large-scale developments, including the 43-story Strijkijzer (2007) and De Kroon residential tower (2011) - both completed since 2007; as well as the new Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2017). Additionally, Spuikwartier and Wijnhavenkwartier will soon undergo significant redevelopment with plans to link Nieuwe Haven directly with city center by 2019.
Rivierenbuurt is an old working-class neighborhood composed of narrow streets, some wider main roads and canals such as Uilebomen and Boomsluiterskade. It primarily comprises single-family homes and apartment buildings with limited high-rise development. Residents typically visit the nearby city center for shopping, dining and entertainment options. Their neighborhood is relatively isolated making it typical residential area; small scale business activity has always been prevalent here though this has not always been true. Boomsluiterskade/Christoffel Plantijnstraat was home to the Staatsdrukkerij until the 1990s; also located nearby was a brewery on Zwetstraat and margarine factory on Scheepmakersstraat. Rental and owned housing can both be found in Rivierenbuurt; it can be divided into three distinct areas: Uilebomen, Rivierenbuurt-Noord and Rivierenbuurt-Zuid.
