Huygenspark is a neighborhood located in The Hague's Stationsbuurt area that was named for Constantijn Huijgens, a 17th century Dutch poet and politician who served as secretary for various stadtholders. Additionally, this neighborhood contains Huigenspark Park that was named in his honor.
At the mid-19th century, this area of The Hague consisted of only four buildings on Groenewegje, Zieken, Kikkerstraat and Huygenspark. 1843 saw the construction of a railway line from Amsterdam through this region with Hollandsche IJzeren Spoorweg-Maatschappij (now Hollands Spoor station) station located here. Prior to 1873 when an incident of violence took place nearby and this part of The Hague became known as Bogt van Guinee; local residents requested its change after which their community requested for it become Huygenspark;
