Rietlanden is an Amsterdam neighborhood located in the Oost district, taking its name from former marshes on the southern shore of IJ River. A locomotive depot and train yard were built there during late 19th century. Unfortunately, this facility closed its doors and dismantled shortly thereafter in 1990.
Today, Rietlanden is home to the Rietlandpark with the entrance to Piet Hein Tunnel and since 2005 the Rietlandpark tram stop as a transfer point between tram lines 7 and 26 (IJtram). Additionally, this neighborhood serves as a central hub between neighboring neighborhoods by offering offices, shops and homes all under one roof.
