Lanakerveld is a sparsely-populated neighborhood located northwest of Maastricht in the Netherlands. Comprised mainly of agricultural lands, this neighborhood sits between Oud-Caberg in the west and Belvedere in the east, near Smeermaas on Belgium's border.

Archaeological digs conducted in Lanakerveld revealed evidence of Bandkeramiekers settlements dating back to around 5000 BCE, as well as Michelsberg culture traces dating to around 4000 BCE. For years thereafter, plans to construct Cabergkanaal were abandoned owing to low population growth in Maastricht and changing urban planning perspectives; eventually these plans were cancelled altogether.

Recent years have seen plans to transform Lanakerveld into a cross-border business district along the Albertkanaal in Lanaken, setting aside 36 hectares for mixed commercial use. Unfortunately, these plans also failed. Instead, in 2018 Maastricht city council voted to reserve 32 hectares for installation of solar panels as part of their goal to become carbon neutral by 2030 and will be hidden behind a three meter-high green barrier from view. Furthermore, this area contains an active freight railway that may become part of rapid transit line between Hasselt and Maastricht.
