Wyckerpoort, a neighborhood located in the eastern part Maastricht, is Dutch. It is one the 44 official neighbourhoods within the municipality Maastricht. The neighborhood was named after one of Maastricht's medieval city gates, the Wyckerpoort (Duitse Poort).
Wyckerpoort lies between the railway and the N2 highway to the east. Since 2016, the Koning Willem-Alexandertunnel and the Groene Loper form the eastern boundary. The Viaductweg, the N278 and the Viaductweg form the northern and southern boundary of the neighborhood. Wyckerpoort is bordered by Sint Maartenspoort in the north, west, east and south. The neighborhood is divided into four sections: the railway yard; the Generals' neighborhood; the Professors' neighborhood; and the Heerderweg, including its surroundings.
Wyckerpoort is a neighborhood with a long history. The Heerderweg (the oldest street in Wyckerpoort), Scharnerweg (the second oldest) and Meerssenerweg (the third oldest) were for many centuries the eastern exit routes from Maastricht towards Aachen, Bemelen/Valkenburg, and Meerssen. Louis (I), Louis (II), sons and grandsons of Petrus (I), Regout founded a porcelain manufacturing factory in 1883 between the Meerssenerweg, and the railway, to the north of Wyckerpoort. Later, this company grew to become the tile factory Koninklijke Mosa. The same period is also reflected in the villa Wyckerveld built by Petrus Regout for his son Eugene.
