Pottenberg is a postwar neighborhood located in Maastricht, Netherlands and one of the 44 official neighborhoods within its municipality. Recognized as worthy reconstruction neighborhoods by Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed, its name originates in 1435 with references to pottery which has long been an important industry in Maastricht for centuries - many streets within Pottenberg are named for clay types, pot shapes, pottery techniques or processed stones used in production.

Pottenberg is situated atop a gently rolling hill that forms part of the Dousberg, from which it takes its second part of its name. Part of Maastricht-West area, Pottenberg borders Belfort to its south; Dousberg-Hazendans to its west; Malpertuis in its north and Brusselsepoort in its east; Via Regia provides access both into Maastricht center as well as Belgian hinterland via Pottenberg.

Pottenberg used to be part of an area occupied by estates owned by churches or monasteries and farmed by farmers from surrounding villages until 1794, when French soldiers arrived and took possession of it all. When French rule ended in 1920, Vroenhoven became part of Oud-Vroenhoven until an expansion plan was announced for construction between Caberg and Wolder in 1954; during which time Pottenberg would emerge.
